Facilities

Water

The water from the tap is all right for cooking and brushing your teeth but we prefer to drink bottled water which we buy from the local supermarket. We use bottled water for boiling water for tea and coffee but we do not use bottled water for boiling vegetables or cooking.

The main water system is heated by voltaic panels which are on the roof but on cooler/cloudy days you may not find it warm enough for a shower or bath. Downstairs by the front door is the fuse box which also houses the operating switch for the immersion heater. It is the one with the arrow pointing towards it. If you need to heat the water flick the switch upwards and leave it on - half an hour should be enough. Please remember to turn it off!

Air conditioning

There are air conditioning units in each of the bedrooms and sitting room. These are activated by remote control. Please do not leave the units on for longer than you need and not when you are outside the apartment.

Internet

We do have WiFi Internet access. Search for Sirius on your settings and key in the password forest123 .

Rubbish

There are some rubbish bags under the sink. The yellow ones should fit the bin under the sink and the large blue ones are for bigger items. When full can you please put in the metal containers at the far end of the tennis court.

Toilets

Please only put loo paper down the loo. When you go out it is wise to take some tissues with you as not all the public toilets or restaurant facilities provide loo paper.

Dustbusters

In the cupboard in the twin bedroom are two dustbusters which are handy for clearing up dust and sand. Please put them on charge after use.

How to operate the dishwasher

Press the white knob on the left to turn on.

Please ensure the black line on the big white knob on the right is facing towards the 45 degree programme (25 minutes) and push in.

The dishwasher capsules are in the cupboard to the right of the dishwasher.

Keys

The key fob with attachment activates the electricity. Leave this in and use the other set of keys to access the apartment.

Plugs

You shouldn’t need any converters since our apartment is equipped with three-pin British plugs in the kitchen and all the bedrooms as well as two-pin Turkish ones.

All we ask at the end of your stay is to unplug the bedside lights and small appliances in the kitchen and TV and CD players.

Barbecue

This is for everyone to enjoy. We have had some lovely evenings with fellow owners over the barbie. The local supermarket sells barbecue coals, firelighters and matches.

All we ask is that the rubbish is cleared and the barbecue is left clean and tidy.

Hob and Oven

The hob is operated by calor gas and oven by electricity. To operate the oven decide the temperature with the knob on the right and the left to select the programme. To operate fan oven click twice to the left to the icon with a fan and a bar above and below.

For the grill put arrow directly below zero to icon with a fan and row of vvvvv above.

The toaster and drainer are stowed in the cupboard next to the dishwasher.

Coffee machine

We would recommend you fill the water container at the back of the machine with bottled water, and to keep an eye that it does not empty completely.

The on/off switch is at the back on the right hand side below the water jug. Lift the stainless steel lever on the top and insert a coffee capsule (we keep a jar of them in the cupboard above the sink). Push the lever down. Wait until the green lights have stopped flashing and select the one you want. Push the lit button on the right for a larger cup of coffee.

Washing Machine

The washing machine is in the bathroom off the top bedroom. Powder and conditioner are in the cupboard to the left. We have very hard water so please add some Calgon.

  1. Put powder in the left hand tray and conditioner in the tray in the middle.
  2. To operate push in white button on the left which says ‘Acma Kapatma’ and when the green light has come on at the kapak sign,
  3. Lightly press the button with the icon of the hand ‘Iptal 3sn’, but don’t hold in. Three green lights should come on.

This is a short programme lasting about 30 minutes which is fine for lightly-soiled loads. Don’t worry if you go out and take the fob with key as both the washing machine and dishwasher will still operate.

Clothes line

On the balcony outside the twin bedroom is the Brabantia clothes line; a great gadget but which can be tricky to open close! Please make sure it is firmly clicked in when you open it.

When you close it (by pushing the end outwards and upwards) at the end of your stay please make sure the cover is firmly clipped on. The clothes pegs are inside the wardrobe in a bag on the shelf by the balcony doors.

Sunbeds

There are three sunbeds for the apartment. The gardener, Bayram, should have put these out by the pool together with the base of the parasol (which needs to be filled by water to stop it falling over) and a side table.

They are marked E4. The cushions for the sunbeds and the parasol are under the single beds in the downstairs bedroom as are some lilos.

CD player

There is a selection of CDs in the basket under the TV which you can play on the Bose CD player next to the TV. Just lift the lid and pop CD in. There is a dedicated remote control for this as well.

Operating the TVs

There are two televisions. One in the sitting room and one in the top bedroom. We don’t have satellite TV so you can only watch DVDs. Please help yourself to the selection on the shelf in the sitting room and in the bedroom and in the basket beneath the TV in the sitting room.

To operate the TV in the sitting room please make sure both the DVD and the TV are plugged in. The large remote is for the TV and small one for the DVD. Turn both the DVD and TV on. On the big remote click input button and select HDMI1 (to play a DVD – if you want to play on the Wii select AV2 – these are the only two options available.)

Put a DVD into the player and select play on the DVD remote. You can operate volume control on either remote.

If you want to play with the Wii the nonchucks and games are in the basket under the TV.

The TV and DVD in the bedroom are operated by two remotes. Turn both of them on, ensuring first that the DVD and the TV are plugged in. You have to activate the open/close feature of the DVD player manually. Once you have done this the machine should ‘fire up’ and DVD indicate it is loading.

The Sony remote does not indicate volume control but it is the right and left arrows either side of the OK button.

Juicer

We would recommend you fill the water container at the back of the machine with bottled water, and to keep an eye that it does not empty completely.

The on/off switch is at the back on the right hand side below the water jug. Lift the stainless steel lever on the top and insert a coffee capsule (we keep a jar of them in the cupboard above the sink). Push the lever down. Wait until the green lights have stopped flashing and select the one you want. Push the lit button on the right for a larger cup of coffee.

We have a rather super-dooper slow juicer which is fantastic for making vegetable and fruit juices.

As you will discover the local markets sell a fantastic array of fruit and veg at a fraction of the price you would pay at home so this is a great gadget for making the most of the local produce whether you want to drink it raw or heat and make into soup.

Just put pieces of fruit and veg (you don’t need to peel cucumber, carrots, apples or pears but you will need to peel oranges and lemons) into the feeder at the top and press the rocker switch at the back upwards. You only need to press it downwards if something gets stuck and you need to reverse the action. Make sure the juicer is only switched on while fruit and veg is being pulped. The pulp will dispense in the plastic jug on the left and the juice in the jug on the right.

The juicer elements cannot be put in the dishwasher so please wash them by hand. Please use the grey brush in the top drawer to dislodge stubborn bits and ensure the yellow plastic bit is slotted in to the bottom of the Perspex section before re-assembling.

To re-assemble please ensure the transparent Perpsex section goes on first. Twist clockwise to make secure and then place the rest of the elements in the following order:

  1. Place the white plastic piece inside the Perspex section.
  2. Put the silver and black filter in next ensuring you line up the white dot with the red dot on the Perspex section.
  3. Place the heavy black crusher in the middle twisting so it is flush and secure.
  4. Put the black feeder section on the top twisting so it is secure.

Ensure the juicer is plugged in before operating.
